CAN Flickr group and CCA Grand Opening

We are in the midst of preparing or CA clinic for its opening. During this flurry of furnishing, arranging, re-arranging, etc it has been very helpful to look at photos of other clinics. Unfortunately, it takes a lot of searching the CAN site trying to remember where the various photo-sets are found.

As a remedy to this, I've just created a Flickr-group for photos of CA clinics.

CAN Flickr-group

I've posted photos of our (almost ready to open) clinic, and now every one else can add photos of their clinics. So, please fill it up with beautiful shots of your CA clinics, so that everyone can find the photos in one place. If you have already posted shots somewhere else on the the CAN site, please add them to this group when you get a chance.

Grand Opening of Circle Community Acupuncture on September 17th!!! We are almost ready. From noon to 4:00PM we will offer free drop-in acupuncture, and from 5:00 to 8:00 there will be snacks and socializing. If you are in the area, and I missed sending you an evite, please come on down and enjoy the day!!!

I'm French-Irish-American hybrid living in SF, married to a Irish-American gal from New Hampshire. I have a son named after my hometown in Texas; he was born in the year of the Monkey (me--the Dog.) I went to school to learn how to stick needles into people in order to make them feel better. I'm broke, in-debt, and pay too much rent for a <strike>one-bedroom</strike> two-bedroom apartment. I have health insurance but owe about $2000 in medical bills and believe that CA will make my life, and others like me, more comfortable. I also have about 20 kilos of puer tea aging in a red metal cabinet -- I plan to drink it all before my days are over.

Conference Keynote: Breaking the Ceiling

The theme for this conference is “Breaking Barriers”. You know, there are so many barriers to break in acupuncture that it was really hard to choose which ones to talk about for this speech. But since I’ve spent so much time talking about classism as a barrier, I thought it might be fun to shift gears a little and talk about numbers.

  1. Great idea.

I will see if I can transfer my photos to your CAN site.  I found Flickr useful, too. 20 min. later: I joined your group but cannot figure out how to get my photos in there.  The Help forum isn’t working for me.  I hope it’s easy and that you know how to do this???

I’m really happy for you three.  Can I get some acu as one of your first patients that day?  I have to work all that afternoon, so in order to join you, need to be there at noon.

    How’s parking there?  metered? free?

  2. congrats!

Please come on by if you get the chance.  You can drop in a little earlier if that is easier for your schedule.

There is a mix of metered and 2hr street parking around the area.

There is also a Trader Joes and Costco in walking distance with large parking lots.  I’m not sure how parking works with them, but we hope to arrange a deal with one of them in the future.

  5. Lovely!

Congratulations you three!  The space looks lovely.  And the flickr group idea is brilliant.  So sad to be missing the party; I’ll send some party qi your way!

P.S. I love the little person chair in the waiting room – I have this funny mental image of Austin sitting there idly thumbing through a magazine, waiting for you to finish treating the last patient of the day.

  6. .

clinic and website both look awesome. wanted to also give a little shout out to your punk rockreminiscence comment in your bio, one of my favorite hobbies too! reminiscence being the key word since my musical tastes have taken quite a dive for the worse over the last few years. if only me 5 years ago saw my playlist now……

best of luck to you all!

  7. I’m proud to say that I was the first patient treated on

Circle Acupuncture’s grand opening day.  It’s a spacious, beautiful room thoughtfully appointed by the three partners, with a wonderful sign facing the world on Harrison Street.  Jenn and David were also celebrating their birthdays that day.

Melissa gave me a great treatment with less than 10 needles, and I saw the room fill up with patients before I nodded off.  I think this is the only California CA treatment I’ve had from a CANer!  I should do this more often.  I left my cards with them, and took their cards with me.

Best of “luck” to the three of you.  I hope you had enough qi to celebrate the birthdays afterwards!  Thanks, Melissa!
