Hot Potato
So, I was walking into the treatment room to unpin one of my patients, and just as I opened the door I hear country music BLASTING through the room. The patient right in front of me was rocking out with her head phones on (wireless) that had just died. Her not-so-smart phone started playing the music via its speakers, and we all got to hear it. Luckily I was quick as a fox. So to everyone else it looked like I walked in, snatched her phone and ran down the hall way, with country music blaring. It was so loud I had to run to the opposite end of the building and try to figure out how to turn it off. Meanwhile my patient is *really* confused as to why I just stole her phone. And the guy who's needles I was about to pull is laughing and trying to explain to the woman, who can't hear because she has head phones on.
Luckily, it didn't seem to annoy the people in the back room too much, they all opened their eyes made “tsk tsk” noises, smiled, and fell back asleep.
Yeah. No more wireless head phones.
Too funny.

We live in such a plugged in
We live in such a plugged in world. I guess it’s harder for some people to unplug than others.
one day at MAS, the front desk DIVA told me to keep an eye a patient who had been talking on her cell phone during treatment when another practioner wasn’t in the room. It was the patients who were reporting back at the end of there treatments.
too funny.
Once our ipod randomly
Once our ipod randomly switched playlists and suddenly everyone from young hipsters to sweet little old ladies were head boppin’ to Michael Franti. Well, hell, it got the qi moving!

i had a patient 2 weeks ago come in with her older mother who just wanted to hang out and nap with her. about half way through the conversation with the daughter who was saying how much she liked the community clinic becasue of how calm and quiet it was compared to the china town clinics she normally went to in l.a.and ten times more calm than the clinics she went to in china, her mother’s phone starts ringing loudly. she doesnt embarassingly hurry to turn it off though, she just picks it up out of her purse and answers it and starts talking in a loud voice. her daughter kept trying to shoe her out of the room. but her mom just waved her off a few times and finished her conversation while pacing the room. it was one of those things that was just so ridculous that it was more funny than obnoxious to us all. thats why i love our community clinics, peaceful and serene….is relative!
There, but for the grace of God…
I could be that person, except that I often enjoy listening to death metal while getting treated. It seems to move liver qi, and if you turn it down low, it becomes this nice fuzzy ambient layer. I just can’t listen to the music we usually play while I get treated, even the stuff I’ve picked out.
thought I was on playlist
One time I thought the iPod was on our clinic playlist, but I guess it was on shuffle, because just as I started needling it jumped from the soft ambient stuff into the Beastie Boys “Hello, Nasty, where you been?” Fortunately, I had just one 88-year-old patient in at the time, and she doesn’t hear very well…
