POCA and Public Health Workshop

Please save the date!

for what? a meeting with your comrades about POCA’s developing relationships with public health initiatives

when? Fri June 1 and Sat June 2 2018 in Portland OR;  on Sunday June 3rd there will be a NADA regional meeting, so if you’re a serious nerd you could go to all 3 days!

where? Taborspace (where we held the Big Damn Clinic workshop)

why? A growing number of POCA clinics are having relationships of one kind or another with public health entities — this is definitely an emerging trend! We need to get together and talk about these relationships so we can learn from each other about what’s working, what’s not, and what it all means for our co-op. With luck we’ll come up with some guiding principles/ best practices/something resembling a clue about how to approach this and then we’ll make a new wiki so that everyone can access the information! We also want to talk about POCA clinics working with other movements and activists, including POCA’s new legislative circle and getting NADA-friendly legislation passed.

And food! There will be lots of eating together along with all the talking. We’re hoping to have dinner with NADA folks at Taborspace on Saturday night.

We’re still working out various details but we wanted to give you a heads up that this will be happening! Because we hope you will come!  And in advance of the meeting, could we start to make a list of POCA folks and especially POCA clinics that are working on public health projects? If that describes you, please go to this thread on the forums and tell us who you are, what you’re doing, and what you would like to see discussed in this workshop.
