I host a weekly donation based community acupuncture and sound healing class Monday nights at my local yoga studio here in Yuma. It is such an honor to offer this affordable acupuncture option to all who need rest and healing.	I hope to continue to share, educate, and inform others on the benefits of 5NP. I have gained so much healing and peace using the technique on myself, it is such a wonderful way to encourage balance in the body, mind, and spirit. I also really admire that it is a non-verbal, non-physical type of healing making it accessible for most people. I hope to host wellness retreats that focus on helping others create a closer connection to their inner light and higher power. I also hope to work with hospitals and outpatient centers to add an alternative option for detoxification and rest. Another exciting opportunity would be to get my credentials to offer this type of acupuncture in Texas as I have a community in Austin as well. I am open to collaboration and would love to join a team that does work with natural disasters, trauma, and rehabilitation.

I was first exposed to the 5-NP by Michael Smith and his colleagues at a methadone conference in the 1990s. Then I forgot about it for awhile...until Libby. My day job is as faculty at the University of Utah medical school. My colleagues there think I'm weird for talking about ear acupuncture, but the people I treat love it!! Allopathic medicine can be so unimaginative; it's fun to do something different that helps people in the moment. I was part of the team that expanded our scope of trainees eligible to learn and do the 5-NP in Utah in 2022. As part of UtahAcudetox, I train eligible providers in the 5-NP in Utah. It's fun to teach the 5-NP and see people regain their passion for healing. I'm also on the Board of Wasatch Community Acupuncture in Salt Lake City and am a big fan of the community acupuncture model.	A few open-minded physician colleagues and I hope to do some 5-NP research that might pass muster with our left-brained, evidence-based colleagues. Our UtahAcudetox group hopes to spread information, training and access to the 5-NP to more addiction and mental health treatment settings and carceral settings in Utah and beyond. We sure do need more tools (especially non-pharmacologic) to help people and 5-NP can be magical! We also envision expanding Utah 5-NP eligibility in the future, adding training for Utah peer support specialists if we can change the laws again. And we want to keep providing the 5-NP at addiction medicine conferences around the US! We have done sessions at CSAM in 2024 and ASAM in 2025 and hope to continue.

While in acupuncture school I volunteered with the Global Acupuncture Health Project at the Navajo Nation doing triage. Since graduating I have volunteered locally at events treating migrant workers doing both auricular and body acupuncture. I lead a free zoom yoga nidra for stress relief once a week and an in person Needles and Nidra once a week. When not working I am either home with my cute, fluffy kitty or hiking, drinking coffee in cafe's and seeing live music with friends.	I would like to lead a Nidra and Needles (auricular 5NP either needles or ear seeds) for de-stressing at local businesses but have not yet made that happen. I have collaborated with yoga instructors and sound healers and have been approached by 2 reiki practitioners to collaborate. Having a tent at outdoor events for 5NP auricular ear seeds sounds like a nice thing to do. In Arizona we are not legally allowed to needle outdoors due to Valley Fever.
