Holiday Shopping Coming Up? Help Raise Money for POCA Tech!

Do you shop on Amazon? If so, you can help.

Amazon gives money to POCA Tech with every designated purchase. It’s lovely when Amazon deposits appear in POCA Tech’s checking account.

What is it? Amazon has two non-profit donation programs: Smile and Affiliate. POCA Tech receives donations from both. The Smile program earns POCA Tech 0.5% of purchases, while the Amazon Affiliate program earns POCA Tech a small variable percentage on purchases.

How does it work? It’s easy to shop on Amazon with an account and designate POCA Tech as your charity of choice. Set up an Amazon account and add POCA Technical Institute as your non-profit beneficiary.

Is there a special way to place an order? Yes. You must place your order by entering the Amazon.com Smile! Program from the button on either the POCA or POCA Tech homepage. In this way POCA Tech to receives our maximum possible contribution from Amazon.

It’s a bit of a pain to get signed up and to remember to make your Amazon purchases thru the POCA or POCA Tech website but it really helps POCA Tech. And we need your help! We are earning about $100/month from the Amazon programs. How high can we get it? Get signed up, and make your purchases thru the POCA or POCA Tech websites, and you’re helping POCA Tech. We’re counting on you.

Conference Keynote: Breaking the Ceiling

The theme for this conference is “Breaking Barriers”. You know, there are so many barriers to break in acupuncture that it was really hard to choose which ones to talk about for this speech. But since I’ve spent so much time talking about classism as a barrier, I thought it might be fun to shift gears a little and talk about numbers.

    What’s the difference in percentage if someone gets there from the button on POCA/POCA Tech vs. just going to smile.amazon.com (after having set the beneficiary to POCA Tech)?

    In order to get benefits from both Amazon programs, you need to enter thru the button on the POCA or POCA Tech website. Otherwise we only get the benefit of 1 program.

    The Amazon Smile program donates 0.5% of sales. The Amazon Affiliate program percentage is variable by product.

    I don’t know why Amazon has chosen to have 2 programs, or why they’ve made them so complicated.
