Join Us to Celebrate the 70th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights
Dear fellow POCA people,
It seems like every day there is a new brutal blow to our collective humanity. Like many of you, we are feeling so much rage, grief, and heartache as many of our communities and the most marginalized among us continue to face mounting attack after attack. As the Movement Building Circle, we are committed to funneling our collective rage and grief into action and power, and so we invite you to join us in a POCA-wide fundraising drive on December 10th, International Human Rights Day.
This year is the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and so this day carries extra significance. Let’s leverage our individual clinic efforts to build national impact by joining together to raise money for human rights. Many of our clinics already engage in fundraising efforts to support local, national, and international community work: this is an opportunity for us to join forces (COOPerate, as we already love to do), to do more, together.
The plan:
Pick an organization to fundraise for. You may already know who is doing human rights work in your community, or this may be a great opportunity to build or deepen a new relationship. We really encourage you to use this day to support and build locally. If you need some help getting started, we’ve made a list of national organizations, including those with many local chapters doing great work at the bottom of this email. Decide financially how to support the campaign. Some options include:
Give a percentage of your day’s earnings to this organization;
Give all the profits made that day to the organization
Post a donation jar at your clinic on December 10 for patients to contribute

Artist Meredith Stern recently made an amazing portfolio of prints of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. She is open to POCA people using these images to share on social media to promote your clinic’s fundraising drive. If you are interested in using any of her images, she asks that you communicate with her directly about how you plan to use it by emailing her at meredithnstern@gmail.com and crediting the image like this (Meredith Stern justseeds.org).
With love, rage, and solidarity,
The Movement Building Circle
