One of the most important purposes of POCA is to organize the social capital of the community acupuncture movement. Social capital includes the time, energy, skills and good will that members contribute. POCA would not exist without generous investments of time from many different volunteers. (If you’d like to volunteer, we’d love to hear from you.) Like CAN before it, POCA has much more social capital than financial capital — a LOT of social capital — almost an embarrassment of riches. In order to use all available resources POCA needs to carefully and thoughtfully organize its volunteers, including its volunteer Board of Directors, within a clear governance structure. POCA’s structure is based on sociocracy.
