The fractal metaphor, with visuals
I have to admit, the fractal metaphor has been lost on me until I saw these pictures.

In the same day, Zem posted this Ted Talk from Amanda Palmer on “The art of asking.” She developed a network with her fans. She has offered her music on line on a pay what you can and free basis, and has reached out and asked for help from her fans when she needed a place to stay, a place to rehearse, and a place to offer a free show. She has built one on one connections with her music and has invited her fans to be part of her community.

I just got off the phone with a clinic owner on the other side of the country and we named about 4 or 5 other people we both know who would be great for her to talk to right now, because they are in her local community, or facing some of the same challenges. We ended our conversation with how relieved we both were that there is a community that we can reach out to now and not feel so alone.
We have developed a complex colony of self organization and cooperative behavior. Okay, we are a fractal, I get now.
Those bacteria fractal images are gorgeous. Looking forward to watching the TED vid when I’m not at the clinic. 🙂
These are just gorgeous Roppie, thanks for sharing! Also – good examples 🙂
So beautiful! Thanks!
I once met a fellow in the California desert who showed me art that he made by introducing bacteria to photo-chemical treated paper. After the bacteria had a chance to do their thing (eat the chemicals, reproduce, die), he’d develop the paper. Really incredible images resulted.
You could probably develop a rorschach-style test with people’s interpretations of what’s happening in these. For example, I think one of those looks like a bunch of brains all facing toward the center and collaborating on an idea. Lovely!
Thanks for the post ….now I get it!
See, Roppie, you are an awesome blogger! Thanks for inspiring all of us! And for more images and ideas on this collaborative path we are on together.
